Welcome!
Thank you for the time to learn more about our church! Whether you are new to the area or starting to draw near to God, we are glad you are here. We are a grace-centered, evangelical church that is committed to Biblical Preaching, a Welcoming Community, and Serving in the Kingdom of God.
The doors of our church are as wide as the arms of Christ. We enjoy meeting visitors, no matter your background, clothing, or anything. Come just as you are. Every first Sunday of the month we have a potluck after service that you are welcome to join.
Profile
Having an average attendance of around 70, our church has a strong family feel, a place where everyone can know everyone. We are multi-generational with several young families. God has composed us as a good representation of West Allis, with working-class families, retirees, and from several different ethnicities..
God-Centered Worship
Our songs range from the traditional hymns that stood the test of time, to contemporary songs that resonate with the same depth. Some of our favorite modern songwriters are Sovereign Grace and Getty Music. Most weeks we have a full band, but occassionally we value using only the piano.
We include several readings from the Scripture in our services. We also spend times in prayer for our spiritual growth as well as for our community.
A typical worship service lasts one hour and fifteen minutes.
Biblical Preaching
We value engaging, expository preaching with an emphasis on theology and application. We go verse-by-verse through books of the Bible. We are not ashamed when the truth of God's Word runs against our culture. Yet, we primarily seek for God to change our own hearts. Our sermons run around 40-45 minutes.
Family-based Children's Ministry
There is no substitute for the role of parents to lead children to Jesus. Our children's ministry focuses on equipping parents to disciple their own children well. We do so by:
- Nursery during the Sermon. Children benefit from watching their parents worship. But a 40 minute sermon may be too much for some. We have volunteers who are happy to watch your children 4 years old and under in the downstairs nursery during the sermon. We also have an upstairs side room for moms with their infants, equipped with a live audio feed.
- Making Church Welcoming to Children. For children staying in service, we have a Children's Clipboard to help them engage. During our potlucks downstairs, there is a children's area for them to play, as well as a clear line-of-sight for parents to monitor.
- Children's Sunday School. Our Sunday School meets @ 9AM, September through May. We teach engaging Bible lessons that go through the biblical timeline and foundational teachings. Our Sunday School teachers are godly role models with a heart for children. We follow proven safety policies, having 2 unrelated adults monitoring children at all times.
- Strengthening Parents. Our ciriculum from Truth78 has resources for parents to reinforce what is taught at Sunday School. Our Young Family Fellowship meets every fourth Sunday evening. The young families of our church gather to have a time of singing, Bible reading, and prayer with the children. Afterwards, the children play and build friendships, as the parents have an intentional spiritual conversation over life's varied challenges.
Mobility
Our church building was built in 1963. Along with this rich legacy comes mobility challenges of which you may find helpful to know before you arrive. As a split level, the restrooms are on the lower level fifteen steps below. If the parking lot reaches capacity, there is plenty of street parking.
