Are We That Spoiled?

Are We Really That Spoiled?

In Luke 17:5 the disciples respond to one of Jesus teachings on forgiveness, “Lord, Increase our faith”.  We do need to ask this in the realm of forgiveness, but we also need to ask this in regard to daily living.  I am reading through Revelation and I was struck with the scene in heaven in chapter 7 where there is a multitude around the throne singing praises to God and the Lamb.  They are dressed in white and are before the throne of God with the angels, elders and the four living creatures.   I was sort of jealous, I want to be there, but how do we get there?

Who are these in the white robes?  They are the ones who have come out of the great tribulation.  Notice that it does not say, out of the great time of happiness and ease, but tribulation.  This got me thinking, why do we want to avoid the hard times of life, why do we only think that we should be spared hardships and difficulties.  Look at where the ones who have made it through the great tribulation find themselves, before the throne of God.  Not that we should go out seeking to find tribulations, I really don’t think we have to look to hard to find them.  They are all around us, physically, emotionally, relationally..., but we should not run from the opportunities that God gives us to find Him in the midst of the trials.  It is part of the purification process.  Jesus died to restore us to God as His Holy Ones, not His happy ones.

Are we willing to go through the hard times so that we can stand before the throne of God, or do we want to be just spectators rather than worshipers.  Perhaps our daliy prayer should be, “Lord, Increase our Faith!”
